Peace Love Bling is a Columbus Ohio based women owned business. Creative Director LeAnne Johnson Absalom lived and worked in Beijing for over four years where she was inspired by the astounding variety of natural pearls and stones available and the women who handcraft designs. These women are daughters of the cultural revolution who emerged from challenging experiences to own their own businesses and employ other women paying them a better than living wage and providing the tools and materials needed to create beautiful designs filled with pride and dignity.
On a recent trip to Beijing, LeAnne was introduced to a growing population of disadvantaged women who have fled Tibet and Western China to find education and safety for their children. These women survive by making jewelry and selling it on blankets in the streets and subway stations of the City. To help get these women off the streets and realize their dream of prosperity for their families, Peace Love Bling has begun sourcing designs from them and funding education for their children. This effort, called Zanta Re Ba (named after the woman who inspires us and the Tibetan word for ‘Hope’) grows through the purchases of their designs as well as charitable contributions.
Closer to home, Peace Love Bling actively supports Dress for Success and the Ohio Domestic Violence Network as well as other humanitarian efforts that are close to the hearts of our customers.
About LeAnne Johnson Absalom
As the founder and creative director for Peace Love Bling, LLC, LeAnne has found a way to merge 20 years of corporate sales and marketing management into a career from which she derives true bliss. She and co-founder, Kimberly Todd founded the company under the premise that every woman deserves to wear genuine jewelry for less than the cost of the ‘fake stuff’ while creating dignified job opportunities for women globally.
LeAnne spent 20 years in corporate leadership roles for MCI, WorldCom and JP Morgan in addition to co-founding a successful IT infrastructure company in Beijing and consulting to organizations in the US, Europe, Latin America and Asia. While having the opportunity to take on many challenges globally, she has always maintained a commitment to fostering entrepreneurship.
LeAnne was selected by the US State Department to head of the US Delegation to the 2001 APEC Young Leaders & Entrepreneurs Forum in Shanghai. She has served as both governor and Vice Chairman for the American Chamber of Commerce in China and founded the Chamber’s Telecommunications and IT forum which continues to shape Sino-US policies and regulations regarding the IT and Telecommunications industries. In 2009 she consulted for the World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO)- Asia to help expand demand and awareness in the US for fair trade artisans across the region.
LeAnne recently moved to Columbus, Ohio by way of London, Miami and New York. LeAnne and Kim aspire to grow Peace Love Bling by expanding its presence in specialty retailers and boutiques across the United States and creating direct sales opportunities that allow more women to build their own businesses selling Peace Love Bling. The need and desire for women to have fair opportunities to earn a living to support their families with dignity and stability is universal. The founders aspire to do their part to empower other women globally while being role models for their own young daughters whom they hope will carry on a legacy of empowerment and social responsibility.
